It’s Spring in New York

A Spring Look from Alice + Olivia

After our action-packed three days in New York seeing close to twenty designers, I’m trying to absorb all that we saw.  I was struck by the number of red pants in the collections, the graphic prints (both art deco and floral), the whimsical designs (Tibi has in its Spring Collection a cropped sweater with a bunny rabbit on it!), and the slits on skirts and dresses that continue to rise as the skirt lengths fall.  Sherbert colors are in, as are the bolder oranges of Fall 2011.  Neon yellows and greens jumped out everywhere.  Whites are light and airy.  Other Fall 2011 trends that march on into — well, March 2012– are lace in all colors, polka dots, brightly colored pants and peplum skirts.  A few photos of the upcoming trends:

Graphic Prints

More graphic

Graphic Florals, too

Tangerine orange ruled the day

Neon colors and cut-out dresses are hot

Neon color-blocking, too

The slit that goes on and on

The maxi skirt was everywhere!

Sherbert colors abounded

And diaphanous whites were flowing

Lovely lace gowns walked the runways

As did peplums and….

 and polka dots!!

I’ve only captured some of the leading trends for the next major fashion season, Ann.  But like Fall 2011, there’s a little bit of everything for everyone!

I am so excited that color is here to stay for spring, but think I’ll just say no to all the day-glo.
