Sorry we have been silent for so long. We have been so busy gearing up for the launch of the Julia Farr Collection, it’s been tough to find time for the blog.
We had our first photo shoot last week in DC. Our plan was to take a series of photos of the two of us wearing the Julia Farr Collection in different venues throughout Georgetown. We began at the beautiful home of my mother-in-law, on Dumbarton Street in the heart of Georgetown. I can’t show you those photos – yet – because we are saving them for our launch invitation which will be mailed this week (we have to have a few surprises!).
Next, we moved on to Cafe Milano, one of the most fabulous and fun restaurants in Georgetown, and the place where we’ve shared many glasses of wine, while solving all the world’s problems.
Our amazing, fabulous, incredibly kind and patient photographer, Tony Powell, is here with me in front of Milano (and I am wearing our Milano dress!).
Poor Tony, he had his hands full, working with a couple of old ladies, whose talents lie more in business than in modeling. But, the man works magic with his camera!
Although the day began with rain, by the time we were ready for our photos, the sun had come out, reminding us that DC did in fact used to be swamp land. The 110% humidity quickly flattened/frizzed our hair.
Fortunately, Cafe Milano is right next to the incredible Toka Salon which was doing free blow outs that afternoon for Fashion Night Out. The fashion gods were shining down upon us. We ran up for a quick “freshen” on our hairdos.
Here is Julie, with Nuri Yurt, the founder of Toka, who works magic with hair (and, by the way, Julie is wearing our Prospect Blouse with the Copley skirt).
Everyone was so lovely at the salon. Not only did they fix our hair, they gave us champagne! It was an unexpected treat.

We moved on to several other sites in Georgetown, but ended up at our favorite spot on Georgetown’s campus. The top of Village A. Only graduates of the school know what a special place this is, despite its generic name. It’s the rooftop of an apartment building on campus that overlooks the Potomac river and all of downtown DC.
It’s really a magical place and the perfect spot to wrap up our day of making our dream come true!
