I know — I’m writing 2 days in a row — uncharacteristic of me! I had to tell you how excited we all are at the boutique to host the Spring 2013 Collection for designer Amy Matto today and tomorrow. A bit of history on how I discovered her designs: A year before I opened the store, when I was still fully engaged in the practice of law, I found the best looking grey dress with a front twist and deep vee-neckline from this designer I did not know: Amy Matto.
When I was opening my store the next year, I searched for her high and low but couldn’t find her information. As luck would have it, her corporate office found me, sending me linesheets for her next collection. We raced to New York to see her line and a beautiful relationship was born! Amy’s designs are great for many women, but part of her collection is perfect for the DC woman who needs to be polished and professional day to day and day to evening.
To support the US garment industry, Amy’s collection is made in New York’s garment district. The designer creates an understated elegance, using the best quality fabrics and craftsmanship. Her designs are feminine while being sophisticated and appropriate. Celebrity fans of the brand include Halle Berry, Sharon Stone, Cindy Crawford, Bethenny Frankel and Kelly Rutherford. And in DC, our favorite CNN news anchor, Dana Bash, has worn Amy’s designs on air to cover the 2012 Presidential Debates. And, Ann, I know you are a devotee of Amy’s creations–
Amy Matto is now carried in many boutiques in the US and she has made several appearances on morning shows to talk about the US fashion industry. The designer lives in Greenwich, Connecticut with her husband Kevin, and golden retriever, Harley. She and her husband are expecting twin boys this Spring! A few more photos of Spring 2013 for you.
If in DC, stop in Julia Farr today, this evening for a glass of wine, or all day tomorrow to see what Amy has brought us for Spring!
