Yes, it’s here – Memorial Day Weekend, the American kick-off to summer. And before the cicadas hit DC (I’ll tell you about the cicadas when you arrive next week for our reunion), the whites of summer will first emerge. I like white. It is a familiar and comforting neutral to me that is a first cousin to beige. And you know how I feel about beige. Although the new fashion rules say that we can wear white before Memorial Day, in DC women still hold dear to our annual marker. At the boutique, we have pulled white pieces in everywhere — signaling the end to a grey winter and a not so sunny spring — and saluting the start to summer.
For a breath of fresh air, I love this classic sleeveless dress from Max Mara Weekend, with a full skirt and skinny belt:
An easy breezy top from Nougat perfect at the beach with shorts or long maxi skirt:
And a more structured one from Lafayette 148 New York that is great with slim cropped pants or a pencil skirt. Very Jane Jetson!
Ann, you know how I love a blazer. This Max Mara Studio jacket is cool and classic, the finishing look for a sheath dress, full pants or jeans.
And for evenings out, we have two beautiful silk dresses on the floor. A sculpted, patterned silk from Catherine Malandrino:
And a gorgeous bateau neck tiered satin dress from Lyn Devon:
But these are just a few of my favorite things! And they are all 30% off this Memorial Day Weekend at Julia Farr. You can email me at email@example.com or call the boutique at 202-364-3277 if you want me to send any of these your way.
Happy Memorial Day, Ann!
